Palestine's Oktoberfest

Munich's annual beer festival, Oktoberfest, ended yesterday with a parade and a great fanfare.  The rather less well-known Taybeh beer festival ended yesterday too.

Taybeh is a small village north of Ramallah.  It is an almost entirely a Christian village, which is unusual in the West Bank, but is perhaps best known for possessing the only brewery in the Palestinian territories.

The brewery was founded by the Khoury family in 1994.  They brew the beer according to the Germanpurity law of 1516 with four ingredients only - malt, hops, yeast and pure water.  I last tasted it in Beit Sahour this year.  It's good.  Find out more at http://www.taybehbeer.com/Home.html
